The picture book, Turtles in My Sandbox is ideal for elementary school students—particularly 2nd-5th graders and can help provide motivating literary context that enhances students' understanding of environmental issues (Goal 6b of Maryland's VSC). Even students unable to participate directly in the terrapin raise and release program can use the book and the website to study certain aspects of environmental science and to develop an appreciation for issues pertaining to the both the positive and negative impact of humans on the environment. Jennifer's highly interactive presentation can help enhance this experience.
